SETDAB Lecture Series: Dementia and Domestic Abuse

Session Objectives
- To increase awareness around the impact of dementia on relationships.
- To highlight the complexity of identifying precipitating factors of domestic abuse in relationships involving dementia.
- To ensure professionals understand the complexities of dementia and its impact on families and carers.
Speaker
Spencer Dinnâge is an Operational Service Manager in EPUT, with a portfolio of dementia, older adult mental health and frailty services. Within EPUT, he is also the Digital Clinical Lead in the Mid and South Essex Community Care Group.
Spencer is also an Ageing Well Steward in the MSE ICS supporting the long term transformations required to meet the needs of the ageing population and the Frailty prevention agenda. Spencer is also the clinical lead for older peoples mental health in the East of England region to NHS England and a Mental Health Nurse by profession.
Spencer’s contributions to healthcare have been widely recognised. He has been a driving force behind significant strides in the care of older people’s mental health and frailty. His work has not only improved patient outcomes but also influenced policy and practice at regional and national levels. Spencer is passionate about holistic care for older people. He believes in addressing all aspects of health – physical, mental, cognitive, social, and emotional – together. His commitment to this philosophy is evident in his work and his efforts to bring mental health into all aspects of care for older adults.
